Volunteer Lawyers Project together with Legal Services for the Elderly, Disabled or Disadvantaged of Western New York are holding a joint Anniversary Celebration in recognition of our many years - 30 years for LSED and 25 years for VLP.

A Note From Bob Elardo

It is hard to believe that VLP is already 25 years old – but, it’s true and we hope that you will join us for a fun celebration on Friday December 5th at the Hyatt. We are teaming up with Legal Services for the Elderly (LSED), which is celebrating their 30th anniversary, to create a great night out. It will not be a night filled with boring speeches. There will be live music, great food stations, open bar (top shelf included), as well as silent & Chinese auction items.

The music will be by John & Mary and the Valkyries. You may know them as the internationally acclaimed act called just John & Mary. They are both former members of the internationally known alternative rock band called the 10,000 Maniacs, which had several top ten songs. "John is John Lombardo, once [the] guitarist and chief tunesmith for 10,000 Maniacs... Mary is Mary Ramsey, a singer and violinist with an almost inhumanly rich, warm, angelic voice." -Dave Jennings, Melody Maker. Richard Griffin, Esq. played very important roles in the creation of both LSED and VLP. He is serving as Honorary Chair of the event. Both organizations are really thrilled to have Dick Griffin serving as the Honorary Chair. I know that he was really the driving force behind the creation of VLP and served as our first Board Chair. He was also one of the original incorporators. There will be a brief VIP Reception held prior to the anniversary gala. At that time, Dick Griffin will be honored, along with other past Board Presidents of LSED and VLP. This night of celebration will be in lieu of VLP’s annual Volunteer Recognition Reception. VLP will present its 2008 Pro Bono Awards at the VIP Reception.
